Chinatown
Today, the plan was to visit Chinatown, one of the city's biggest tourist attractions.
I started early in the morning to avoid the heat, but that was a mistake because the shops were just starting to open and it wasn't as lively as it gets at noon or in the evening. The vendors were busy setting up their stalls, unpacking boxes of clothes, jewelry, souvenirs, and other trinkets. Every few meters, there was either another vendor with their goods or a closed family restaurant.
I later found out that everything comes to life around noon when tourists start arriving to buy all sorts of things at very affordable prices.
I made one lap around the main street and then returned to the apartment.
In the evening, I returned to Chinatown, and this time everything was so much different! The main street was packed with people in both directions, locals and tourists, while traffic still flowed in the middle of the road with a few lanes. Restaurants with plastic stools for seating were everywhere, as well as stalls with fresh seafood, exotic fruits, ice creams, juices... As it sounds, at this time of day, i.e., night, the focus is on food and drink, while clothing and souvenir shops are mostly closed.
Besides the coconut cakes, which have a texture similar to brownies, and coconut water, I didn't try anything else because I was full... I will definitely visit this place a few more times, so I will make sure to try some specialties (those scorpions and bugs, above all).
